So, I went to a Naturopath and decided to get hormonal and neurotransmitter testing done. The results show that I am very low on Serotonin, and a little low on Dopamine, GABA, PEA and Cortisol (adrenaline). So my good doctor gave me some supplements to take to "fix" these imbalances. End of story, happy ending right? Obviously not...I can't seem to make anything easy.

Anyways, this probably all sounds very boring to you, but what is amazing is that Andrew Wiles worked on this math proof for 7 years and did nothing else. He spent day and night working on this and nothing else. And in the video when he describes how he felt when he solved it...he says "It was the most important moment of his working life...(he tears up here)...nothing I ever do again will...(now he waves away the camera because he can't continue speaking due to emotion)".

I suppose the biggest thing I'm thinking about right now is her suggestion that the meaning of life is to work hard to accomplish something. She implies that if we work hard, create something, be successful then you will be happy and you have helped the world. This philosophy is directly opposed to the Buddhist one which says that we should just accept that nothing is truly fulfilling in life and that we shouldn't strive to accomplish something big because we will end up being disappointed.

It had to be asked: What was it I was so attached to? Is it just something in the imagination? When you have done time in a mental hospital, that is never a trivial question. If he wasn't just imaginary, then where did he go? Do real things just disappear like that? If they do, then the conservation laws of physics are in trouble. But if we stay with the laws of physics, then the Chris that disappeared was unreal. Round and round and round. He used to run off like that just to make me mad. Sooner or later he would always appear, but where would he appear now? After all, really, where did he go?

Taken in its widest sense, a spot of do-it-yourself can be a way out. But the fact is that nothing can halt the ever-increasing recurrence of those moments when your total isolation, the sensation of an all-consuming emptiness, the foreboding that your existence is nearing a painful and definitive end all combine to plunge you into a state of real suffering.
